Adult Thayer's Gull in winter (basic)
plumage. The mantle shade was slightly darker than the nearby
Herring Gulls. Its eyes were dull greenish-yellow and were darker
than the bright lemon yellow of the Herring

The undersides of the
primaries were silvery white with the grey shadow of the black upper
