Common Nighthawk, Summer Tanager, Scarlet Tanager, Barn Swallows and Yellow-billed Cuckoo at Point Pelee

Summer Tanager fed on dried up insects trapped in the picnic shelter skylight. On 18 May 2011, it was cold and wet. Insect eating birds were stressed.

 

Scarlet Tanagers were down low searching for food. They too were stressed by the cold wet weather and lack of insects. Concession E just outside the Park on 17 May 2011

 

Barn Swallows at the Tip tram stop huddled together to keep warm in a nest. Three days of cold wet weather caused many swallows to die from hypothermia and starvation due to a lack of insects. 16 May 2011.
