Adult Loggerhead Shrike on east side of
Wylie Road at Bluebird Box 10. The poles are perfect perches for
adult shrikes to hunt beetles and grasshoppers in the grass below.

At times the juvenile shrikes retreated
from the fence or brush pile to a nearby hawthorn bush where they
rested in the shade until the adults came to feed them again. |

Now is the perfect
time to see Loggerhead Shrikes. The young are out of the nest and
are very vocal, begging for food. 16 June 2012 |
