Bohemian Waxwing
eating crab apples north of Toronto in Markham, Ontario, on 17 March 2013 |
|
|
In the area of Wootten Way and Highway 7
in Markham, hundreds of Bohemian Waxwings are putting on a show,
eating the abundance of ornamental crab apples in front of
residences. |
|
|
After and before feasting on crab
apples, the Bohemians rest high in neighbouring trees, trilling
away. The main flock we saw numbered around 200 birds, and there
were a few smaller flocks of about 20 to 40. |
|
|
The Bohemians are
often in the company of American Robins, which are also eating crab
apples. |

Thanks to Stan Long
and Jack Alvo for posting on Ontbirds. |
