Red-necked Grebes at Colonel Sam Smith Park

While  I watched the Red-necked Grebes diving for fish, the young bird climbed on the back of a parent. Colonel Sam Smith Park on Lake Ontario, Toronto, 15 September 2014.

The chick was a late hatch, but is growing quickly.

Both Red-necked Grebe parents care for the young.
