Swallow Colony at Bluffers Park in Toronto |
 |
High on the Scarborough Bluffs at
Bluffers Park on the north shore of Lake Ontario in Toronto is a
large Bank Swallow colony comprising many hundreds of burrows, which
are excavated into the vertical face of the cliff. 18 June 2015. |

The Bank Swallows were very active,
going in and out of their burrows and hunting for flying insects
along the beach where their raspy chattering alerted us to their
presence. A Belted Kingfisher also has a large burrow in the middle
of the colony. 18 June 2015 |
