This
Fox Sparrow was double-scratching by lifting both large feet off the
ground at the same time and kicking back leaves and vegetation to
uncover seeds and insects. Other sparrows do it too, but not all.
Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated Sparrows and Eastern Towhees
double-scratch, but European House Sparrows don't. Toronto on 25
