There is a national campaign by a group of bird lovers,
ornithologists and patriotic Canadians who want The Whiskey Jack
(aka Canada Jay) declared Canada's national bird. Duncan Fremlin of
Bar River, Ontario, is a member of Whiskey Jack, a group that backed
up Stompin' Tom Connors, who died in 2013. Fremlin and bandmate Bob
McNiven wrote "If Stompin' Tom was our National Bird" and have
offered it to everyone for free to support this important cause.
Whiskey Jack plans to play at concerts “at least until the
government gets off its ass and gives this the due it deserves,”
said Fremlin. |
