Northern Mockingbird and Northern Shrike in Toronto

While birding Humber Bay West with Bruce Falls, Mc and Susan, we heard scolding and a fuss going on inside a stand of sumac. We could see two similar looking grey birds behaving in an agitated way. Suddenly, a Northern Shrike flew out, then the Northern Mockingbird started eating the sumac. This is obviously part of the mockingbird's wintering territory and the shrike was an invader. Obvious was the striking similarity in plumage colour, shape, tail, white patch on the wing and white outer tail feathers. 18 January 2017.
