Smith's Longspur near Long Point on 2 January 2017

This first year female Smith's Longspur was discovered on the Long Point Christmas Bird Count on 17 December 2016 by Adam and Matt  Timpf and Ron Ridout. It has remained at a favoured spot on Concession A since that date, Ron Pittaway, Declan Troy and I went to see it on 2 January 2017.

It is feeding very close to the side of the road - very scary. It doesn't fly away when traffic goes by, rather it crouches down.
