Juvenile Baird's Sandpiper at Presqu'ile
Provincial Park on 25 August 2018. Note length of primaries beyond
tertials and beyond tail. Baird's is a long-distance migrant from
High Arctic to South America. There were at least 37 juvenile
Baird's, which is a good number for this species. |

grey winter feathers on the upperparts. The old breeding plumage is
worn and faded and will soon be molted. It is undergoing a complete
