In keeping with this
unusual summer, a Black-legged Kittiwake showed up among the Caspian
Terns at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto. 13 July 2017.. |

It's undergoing wing
molt as it molts into second winter plumage. This bird hatched last
summer, which makes it a little older than one year. |

It has a yellow bill
and short black legs. It's smaller than a Ring-billed Gull, but
larger than Bonaparte's Gull. Ashbridges Bay on 13 July 2017. |

Rare in summer in southern Ontario, this
Black-legged Kittiwake showed up on the flooded beach at Ashbridges
Bay. Spotted by Ron Pittaway, it spent some time with adult Caspian
Terns on 13 July 2017. |
