Interesting Kumlien's Gull at Thorold

This Kumlien's Gull has fairly blackish wingtips, a pale eye and a size about the same as Herring Gull. Thorold ON on 11 January 2017.

Based on the amount of dark showing in the folded primaries, I was expecting more black in the primary tips.

Spread wing showing much less black

Ryan Griffiths took this photo of the upperside of the spread wing showing that the black is mostly on the outer webs. This is another example of the endless variation in Kumlien's Gulls.
