Great Horned Owl in Thickson's Woods

This Great Horned Owl is a resident of Thickson's Woods in Whitby and is seen by many visitors. It stays very high in a White Pine so normally isn't disturbed by people on the trails below. 20 April 2014.

In the early afternoon, I was finally alerted to its presence because surprisingly it was hooting softly. It was staring at something on the ground and I wonder whether it was watching two large dogs running around in a nearby backyard. 20 April 2014.
