Toronto Whimbrel Watch -
27 May 2013 |
|
Alex Lamoreaux in Virginia USA reported
that 2430
Whimbrel departed the coast there between 6:00 and 8:10 p.m. on
Sunday evening, 26 May. We expected
Whimbrel to arrive in Toronto on Monday
morning, 27 May. Between 6:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m on 27 May, I saw 461
Whimbrels at Colonel Sam Smith Park in Toronto, with most passing us
between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. |
|
|
Flock sizes were 250,
78, 5, 105, 13, 1, and 9. Total 461. |
|
|
One flock of 13 + 1
circled close to us for several hours as if looking for a place to
land before continuing their northbound migration. |
|
Colonel Sam Smith Park in Toronto is
where Kipling Avenue ends at Lake Ontario south of Lake Shore Blvd
West. Park in south lot and walk out to point. |
