Piping Plovers on Toronto Islands on 27 May 2015 - page 1

Two Piping Plovers of 3 (possibly 4) Piping Plovers on this stretch of Hanlans Beach on Toronto Islands. Left bird hatched, along with three siblings, in 2014 on North Manitou Island in Lake Michigan. Right bird hatched, along with three siblings, in 2014 at Wasaga Beach, Georgian Bay, Canada. It will be the first time Piping Plovers have nested in Toronto in about 80 years. This is the Michigan bird with green dot on upper orange band.

It appears Piping Plovers are about to nest. The beach was closed on Friday 29 May to give the birds a chance.
