Note the contrasting line of reddish inner scapulars and the fairly
long bill, which is decurved near the tip. Note also the small basal
web between the middle and outer toes of the left foot. Both
Semipalmated and Western Sandpipers have small basal webs between
the front toes, webbing is larger between the middle and outer toes,
and often can be seen in the field with good binoculars or
telescope. |
