Ocellated Tapaculo is a spectacular
looking bird. Normally secretive and shy, it came into the open
to eat worms at Paz de las Aves. It is a double-scratcher on the
ground and has a long hind claw - see photo. Scratching birds make a
lot of noise. 22 November 2012. |

Angel Paz (right) and his brother Rodrigo feed antpittas, tapaculos and wood-quail and maintain hummingbird feeders
on their property. Every day they collect fresh worms from the river
at the bottom of the mountain. The birds like these worms, and
birders were treated to excellent views. Brilliant work.
Paz de las Aves is a beautiful place to visit.. |
