Hybrid Common x Barrow's Goldeneye at Oshawa Second Marsh

Hybrid Common x Barrow's Goldeneye (left) with Common Goldeneyes on Lake Ontario at Oshawa Second Marsh on 29 December 2011. Declan Troy picked it out among the flock of goldeneyes.

The white mark on the side of the face is intermediate between the crescent on Barrow's and rounder mark on Common. Head shape is also intermediate.

Reduced black spur on the side and larger white spots on scapulars are intermediate in pattern between Barrow's and Common Goldeneyes,

It is similar to a hybrid goldeneye on the Toronto Christmas Bird Count in 2006. See link.
