Snowy Owls at Presqu'ile Provincial Park

On an outing with friends, we saw seven Snowy Owls at Presqu'ile Provincial Park on Sunday, 7 December 2114

Several were well marked females like the ones above, but were not first year birds, i.e. not hatched this summer. 7 December 2014

Some were on the fractured ice along the shore and appeared to be stalking the ducks, which were mostly Long-tailed Ducks. 7 December 2014

Others perched on human structures such as this sign out on the islands. 7 December 2014

With boots on we walked out to Gull Island. The water in the channel was under 15 cm deep and was mostly frozen. 7 December 2014
