On 12 July 2015 we saw three young
Merlins above their nest in a tall White Pine behind our house in
Toronto. For more than an month the two adult Merlins were prominent
every day, hunting, calling and watching from a high perch in
neighbouring maples, but we didn't see them enter the nest until
today. They were very secretive. Here are the three young, still
covered in white down. On 13 July the young were clambering about
the nest itself and perching precariously on branches. Adults will
be very busy finding food for three hungry mouths. |
