Prothonotary Warblers at Point Pelee

This male Prothonotary Warbler was feeding and very active at one of the bridges on the Woodland Trail at Point Pelee. 10 May 2017.

I was on the trail and it walked below me. Probably the cool temperatures and the need to eat were of paramount importance. 10 May 2017.

 

High water levels on Lake Erie, much rain, and sloughs full of water provided good breeding conditions this year. I hope the Prothonotary Warblers were successful as they were competing for nest sites with Tree Swallows and House Wrens. 10 May 2017.

It was a wonderful opportunity to appreciate this endangered species as it foraged for food and began its breeding season. 10 May 2017.
