Olive-sided Flycatcher in Toronto

Every year at this time, Ron Pittaway and I look for this regularly occurring migrant flycatcher from the boreal forest in our backyard in Toronto. 18 August 2013.

This flycatcher has a distinct dark waistcoat, large head and a big bill.

It was flycatching from the tops of dead Eastern Hemlocks..

In previous years we've also seen both adults and first year birds: http://www.jeaniron.ca/2009/olivesided.htm
