We had spectacular views of Atlantic Puffins at Dyrholaey on the south coast near Vik. Many hundreds were resting on the water below the cliffs. 5 July 2017.

On Flatey Island puffins brought sandeels to feed young still in the burrows.

A few Thick-billed Murres can be found among the Common Murres and Razorbills at Svӧrtuloft on Snaefellesnes Peninsula on 29 June 2017.

 

Black Guillemots at Flatey Island

 

We were dismayed to see these Guillemot eggs for sale because of declines in alcid populations. Bird conservation organizations are concerned that this practice continues to the extent that it does. Hrisey Island on 3 July 2017.
